With the ever increasing volume of traffic the responsibility of teaching people to drive over the last few years has escalated enormously.

New drivers make up just 10% of licence holders but are involved in 29% of accidents.

At THE WAY AHEAD we take this responsibility seriously. Our aim has always been to provide you with all the necessary driving skills to be a safe and competent driver. With this in mind all lessons are conducted in modern dual-controlled cars with fully trained instructors. We have access to all of the latest training aids and learning materials to help you with your theory and hazard perception tests. We produce our own Course Guide and Log Book which is free to all students and comprehensively covers the driving syllabus. This allows you to follow a carefully structured learning plan, tailored to your individual needs. It also enables you to monitor your progress towards test standard.

In another first for Island Driving Schools, The Way Ahead has also instigated a programme of standards monitoring amongst its large compliment of instructors. Even with The Way Ahead training all its instructors from scratch, it feels that a regular monitoring programme, is essential to ensure that the highest possible standards of teaching are maintained, and that new ideas and methods are thoroughly tried and tested.

These checks take a form of a director sitting in on a normal lesson and observing the manner in which the lesson is carried out. The content of the lesson, along with its delivery, is carefully watched along with ensuring that the instructor picks up all of the faults made by the pupil and deals with them in the best possible way. From this, the observing director will watch to make sure that the pupil takes learning away from that lesson, that their faults have been corrected and that they have progressed from previous lessons. In addition, this on going monitoring helps all of The Way Ahead instructors to continuously develop their skills and teaching methods, helping with their desire to achieve and maintain the highest possible standards of education for their pupils.
