WELCOME to The Way Ahead School of Motoring's very own Website.

Our aim is to keep you informed of the latest developments in driver training and motoring topics in general, as well as how we at The Way Ahead can help you achieve your driving ambitions. We hope you enjoy your visit to our web site and we welcome your ideas on how you think we might make it even better.

Just take a look at some of our achievements:

  • The most knowledgeable and highly qualified group of driving instructors on the Isle of Wight. For example, NO OTHER driving school on the Isle of Wight can claim to have all of the following in its ranks:
    • All instructors are fully qualified Driving Standards Agency (DSA) Approved Driving Instructors
    • All instructors are DSA Approved Pass Plus Instructors (Government approved post-test training)
    • DSA Approved Corporate Driver Trainers (Fleet Register)
    • Experienced trailer training instructors
    • Police-trained Close Protection Driver
    • DSA accredited Driving Instructor Trainers (we are good enough to train driving instructors!)
    • Experienced Skid Control instructors
    • Experienced Health and Safety compliant Driver Risk Assessors (If you employ staff who have to drive as part of their employment visit our Corporate Driving Consultants at www.drivex.co.uk)
    • Within our team we have a Jaguar–trained Vehicle Development Engineer and an experienced Highways Design and Maintenance Engineer, ensuring our instructors can pass on more understanding of vehicle mechanics and dynamics, and road design and layout.
  • The last time the Driving Standards Agency published Driving Test Pass rates instructors at The Way Ahead were among the top 4% in the UK. These instructors are now involved in our instructor training programs, passing on their knowledge and skills to all instructors at The Way Ahead.
  • The Way Ahead was the FIRST Island driving school to introduce CRB police checks on all of its instructors, long before the Driving Standards Agency made it compulsory.
  • The Way Ahead is the ONLY driving school on the Isle of Wight to be accredited by the Driving Standards Agency to train other driving instructors. (We are on the acclaimed ORDIT Register.) This allows us to maintain the highest teaching standards for all of our instructors, above and beyond the minimum check test standards required by the DSA.
  • Our unique Course Guide and Log Book, designed and produced by us at The Way Ahead, are given FREE to all of our learners. This excellent booklet has even been used by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and the Transport Research Laboratory in their research into the next generation of learning materials for learner drivers.
  • The Way Ahead was the FIRST Isle of Wight driving school to introduce one-to-one driving lessons for 16 year olds, as featured on Meridian TV.
  • The Way Ahead was the FIRST Isle of Wight driving school to introduce skid control training.
  • The Way Ahead was the FIRST Isle of Wight driving school to introduce trailer training (licence category B+E).
  • The Way Ahead was the FIRST Isle of Wight driving school to introduce a fully animated navigational aid for dealing with Coppins Bridge and St. Mary’s Roundabout.
  • The Way Ahead was the FIRST Isle of Wight driving school to introduce a free of charge online Theory Test.

Others have since copied many of our innovative training courses, but we do not rest on our laurels. We have further new developments, to be unveiled later in 2009, which will show our commitment to remain the market leader when it comes to Driver Training on the Isle of Wight. WATCH THIS SPACE!
